Materials...The structures of our homes are made from Expanded Polystyrene Foam Core (EPS) with steel girders. EPS in this particular format offers maximum insulation, does not deteriorate, does not off-gas or contain VOCs, and allows us to build a home that will stand the test of time. The internal structure of the home is custom built here in California and then erected on your land. These homes go up quickly, saving time, costs, materials waste and energy.
The thickness of the walls are customized to your climate. Our homes are designed with walls, ceilings, and floors that are nearly impenetrable to heat and cool, and use thermal breaks that stop any transmission of heat/cool. Our goal is to build homes that use zero net energy so your home can be completely solar and wind powered. We accomplish this by using Passive House Design, which always reduces and usually eliminates the need for energy-expensive cooling and heating. Our designs allow fresh, temperature-controlled air to flow through your home night and day, without using electricity.
We work with a wide range of finishes that meet our high standards for green construction. We can use adobe, bamboo, hemp siding, or numerous other beautiful interior and exterior materials that cover the EPS structure! We can build any style of home, and can make your home look completely traditional if desired.
